What’s going on this week?

Family Day & A New School!

1) A new school opens in north Woodstock

Why it matters: New schools aren’t just ribbon-cuttings — they shift catchment areas, relieve crowding, and add community services (like child care). Turtle Island Public School is scheduled to open Feb. 17, 2026 at 717 Knights Lane.

2) Family Day: the city’s “try everything” sampler

A long weekend is better when it comes with a plan (and doesn’t cost much).

On Monday, Feb. 16, the City is promoting free Family Day activities across multiple facilities — including Cowan Park Sportsplex, Woodstock Museum, Woodstock Art Gallery, Southside Aquatic Centre, and Reeves Community Complex.

  • Family Day skating is listed at Reeves Community Complex (Red Rink), 3:45–5:05 p.m.

  • The Museum is also launching an exhibit on Bernadette Smith (Woodstock’s first female mayor) starting Feb. 16.

City News 🌆

Weather watch: freezing rain and slippery everything

Why it matters: Commutes, sidewalks, power lines — freezing rain hits all the essentials.

Heart FM reports Environment Canada issued a freezing rain warning for Oxford County, with the situation later downgraded (and then updated again) — plus possible wind gusts up to 60 km/h and slippery roads/walkways.

If you have flexibility: it’s a good time for slower driving, earlier errands, and charging things you like to work.

Listing of the Week

Listing Spotlight: 161 Hemlock Street (Woodstock North) — $889,700

If you like a home with “zones” (and not just in your Wi-Fi), this multi-level place leans into separation-of-space in a good way.

Who it’s a fit for: anyone who wants 4 bedrooms and the ability to put distance between “kids energy,” “work calls,” and “quiet time.”

That’s it for this week!
